Facebook Will Fail

I’m making this official now: my prediction is that the numerous applications that FaceBook allow and encourage, will ultimately bring it undone. I believe it’s already starting to have a negative effect on the site’s integrity.

On the other hand, FaceBook has a lot of user friendly, accessible, logical and ergonomic features that really set it apart from MySpace. Those of you who use MS will notice it scurrying to pick up the pieces of it’s all technology to catch up. Good luck, but um.. too little, too late?

Just quickly, few nice points about the ol’ FB:

  • Newsfeed - omg ♥
  • Logical flow of use (wall to wall, updates, speed of pages)
  • Drag & Drop stuff everywhere
  • Picture sharing - shatters myspace’s ability to share photos, and crushes the mighty FlickR
  • Picture tagging - especially how other user’s are updated when you tag them, and they tag you etc
  • Posted Items - nice, keeps it relevant, if you care you click, if you dont it’s easy to ignore

Among plenty of others. Apart from my applications concern, the only other issue I have is one that is more social based, the fact that people add EVERYONE they’ve walked past, let alone met 20 odd years.

Let’s keep it honest: there are some people, you just don’t care to see or talk to again. There’s nothing wrong with it.

Oh and this is a nice ‘bage’ feature, could just use a few dimension controls.
